Bee Gone! - Before & After
This pic is a great example of using pinch & zoom to the extreme to get great macro shots with your iPhone. For this particular pic I had to use pinch & zoom a couple of times to get the desired effect. When you reach the zoom limit simply take a screen shot (home button + power button at the same time) then you can work on that image and continue to zoom even more. So here are the stages:
Step 1 : Initial pic, a bee landed on the windscreen of my car, perfect chance for an Instagr.am moment…
As you can see the initial pic is not that exciting, all I did here was concentrate on focusing on the bee itself and keeping as still as I could to minimise blur caused by shake, I could have used something like NightCamera but I was in a hurry to capture the image before the bee legged it. You can even see some of the pollen it had collected on my screen.
Step 2 : Zooming in … using the iPhone4 pinch and zoom I zoomed in to the maximum possible and took a screen shot, this is the result…
Step 3 : Now I need to orientate the image to get a better look and to start setting up for the final image. I rotate the image I use PS Express app …
Step 4 : Now I need to get even closer, so again use the in built iPhone4 zoom to get as close as I need before again taking an iPhone screen shot …
Notice how I haven’t zoomed all the way in yet, just zoomed enough to leave room for me to crop. Crop will let me centre the image and get closer to the bee.
Step 5 : I Crop using PS Express app, I crop close to the bee which again zooms even closer to the image I want to present to Instagr.am, here is the result …
Step 6 : Instagr.am magic .. so the image above I then load into Instagr.am where I can zoom some more, just enough to get my bee upto the edges of the frame. Leaving me just to flick through all the filters picking the one I like best, in this case Brannan giving the final result ….
